Kaleb tells me that the team is going out for lunch. He asked me if I wanted to join. I declined. I didn't want to be seen with the barnyard. He told me it would be only me and Blondie home. I regurgitated in my mouth. My brother and the barnyard leave. I stay in my room until I get hungry. Then I go downstairs.

Blondie is in the living room, reading a magazine about cars.

"Nerd alert." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm definitely a nerd about cars." He confirmed, putting down the magazine.

I grab a pack of Oreos from the cabinet and am about to head upstairs.

"Wait." Brian called after me. I paused. "Come sit with me."

I turned back to him. "What?"

"I would like some Oreos." Brian informed me.

Against my better judgment, I took a seat next to him. I opened the Oreos. He took one and bit it.

"No." I take the Oreo from him.

"What?"

"You eat it like this." I separate the cookies. I scrape the remaining cream off with my teeth and eat that before finishing the cookie.

"That's a lot for a cookie." Brian objected.

"It's more than a cookie. Its life." I stated.

He laughed, taking another cookie. "How are you feeling today?" His crystal eyes caught mine.

"Peachy keen." I fake smiled.

I began to work on another Oreo. My eyes fall to it, leaving his gaze. It was quiet for a moment.

"How come you can't be this nice in front of the others?" Brian asked.

"The last team I've let in, betrayed us." I answered.

"Believe me, we've been through hell and back together. We're family." Brian said.

"Well, I'm being nice to you aren't I?" I snapped.

"Hey, I'm just trying to understand, Katherine." Brian held up his hands.

"I don't know why but when I'm alone with you, I can't bring myself to be rude to you." I told him.

He smiled slowly. "I'm glad you're warming up to me."

"You're different." I said calmly.

No. I shouldn't have said that. I realize my mistake and jump up. I turn to go upstairs but Brian grabs my wrist to stop me. He spins me around and next thing I know, we're kissing. His lips are warm and soft. Our lips parted in sync, tongues invading each other mouths. I wrapped my arms around his neck, his hands rest on my waist.

After a second, we broke apart. I was breathless. He stared at me for a moment before kissing me again, this time more intense. It seemed like we kissed forever. His hands held my face, fingers in my hair. The earth stopped in that moment. I could feel something stirring in my stomach. I tasted him, I felt him.

He stopped suddenly. "That's been on my mind ever since I laid eyes on you."

He walked away from me, leaving me stunned.
